CommonSpirit Health

The large hospital and outpatient care provider CommonSpirit Health is partnering with the startup behavioral health company Concert Health to create a new model of primary medical care that better addresses depression and anxiety.

CommonSpirit, which was formed last year through the merger of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, said patients with commercial health coverage, Medicaid insurance for poor Americans and Medicare benefits for the elderly will be able to access behavioral health support from a specialist they are connected to “in hours rather than waiting weeks to get an appointment,” CommonSpirit said Wednesday.

Because CommonSpirit has more than 1,000 care sites and 137 hospitals across 21 states, those involved see the effort offering faster

Spurred by Coronavirus, How a Startup Became one of India’s Biggest Health Platforms

The Indian start-up Cure.fit began in 2016 as a fitness app like many others, offering gym memberships and exercise classes to young adults in Bangalore.

But it has since transformed into one of India’s top health platforms, with meal and grocery deliveries, online workouts, mindfulness classes, appointments at its health centers and even an online store for fitness gear.

The spread of coronavirus spurred the business to further reinvent itself, from one primarily reliant on physical gyms to an international online fitness platform.

This summer Cure.fit announced its digital expansion into the US, where it has begun offering online fitness and therapy sessions. “Lockdown has expedited these efforts,” Shamik Sharma, Cure.fit’s head of international business, tells CNN Business. “When we saw the demand for our app in the United States, we launched rapidly,”

When Stephen Smith was a sophomore in college, he started having anxious thoughts about his relationship with his girlfriend. Pretty soon he started worrying about other things, to the point where he couldn’t focus on anything else. Over and over again, as he tried to study or go to football practice, he couldn’t—these pernicious thoughts kept coming back, laden with a fear that something terrible was going to happen.

Smith spent months trying to find answers about what was going on in his mind, just so he could get his life back. He saw five different doctors. He got five misdiagnoses. He got five treatments for the wrong thing. He ended up spiraling so badly, he says, that he had to drop out of college and move home. One day, while searching his symptoms online, he came across other people with similar

Austin, Texas, Oct. 07, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Decent, an Austin, Texas-based startup disrupting the health insurance industry through a partnership with the Texas Freelance Association, will soon offer health plans in small and rural towns throughout the state, expanding access to health insurance in regions where there has always been limited availability.

“Most rural Texans live in ‘health insurance deserts’ where there is just one expensive health plan option that costs more than their mortgage. It means many forego coverage altogether,” explained Nick Soman, CEO and co-founder of Decent.

Decent is able to extend its unique health

Seattle startup Picnic raised an additional $3 million from existing investors as it gears up for a commercial rollout of its pizza-making robot.

Vulcan Capital, Flying Fish Partners, Creative Ventures, Arnold Venture Group, and others put more money behind Picnic, known for its automated food preparation device that can churn out up to 300 12-inch customized pizzas per hour. It follows a $5 million seed round in November.

The fresh cash will be used for product development, response to customer interest, new hires, and marketing. The company has seen increased demand for its machine during the pandemic from customers looking for ways to prepare food with less contact.

“This work is important because we’re supporting struggling restaurants who are looking for any advantage that will help them weather the storm of losing 60% of their sales,” CEO

Seattle-based biotech company HDT Bio closed a seed round totaling roughly $3 million to support work on its COVID-19 vaccine candidate HDT-301.

Researchers from HDT Bio and the University of Washington in July published a rapid-release paper in the journal Science Translational Medicine reporting on promising early results from the vaccine as tested in mice and non-human primates.

HDT Bio’s team includes scientists focused in earlier phases of research, and the new funding will allow them to add staff who have experience in clinical disease trials, according to the company.

HDT-301 is a cutting-edge, replicating RNA vaccine. In this approach to preventing illness, the vaccine contains a string of RNA from the virus, which cells turn into protein, triggering an immune response. In traditional vaccines, the targeted virus or pathogen is inactivated and then injected into the body.

The vaccine includes

(Bloomberg) — Walmart Inc. will make its first foray into the fast-growing market for privately managed Medicare Advantage plans next year with two products for Georgia seniors jointly branded with insurance startup Clover Health.

The plans will give seniors access to new Walmart Health centers that the retail giant is testing in stores outside Atlanta. Those clinics and other providers in the plan will use Clover’s technology to track patients’ health and improve care, the companies said Thursday.

Walmart’s health-care strategy has been closely watched, and the retail giant is seen as a potential threat to established providers and insurers. The Georgia offering will make Walmart a player in the Medicare Advantage program, a lucrative market  dominated by UnitedHealth Group Inc., Humana Inc., CVS Health Corp.’s Aetna unit, and BlueCross BlueShield branded plans, some of which are also expanding their offerings.

In 2005, Pallavi Bhardwaj’s newborn Vedhang was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect with two holes in the heart. As a new mother, she also knew there were challenges ahead and a healthy lifestyle was the way forward.

When her son’s immunity was challenged and showed slow growth, Pallavi religiously studied her food intake to supplement her son’s nutrition through breastfeeding. The saying, “we are what we eat,” became central to the mother’s life.

In March 2015, Pallavi pursued a formal degree in macrobiotic nutrition at the Kushi Institute in the US and learnt all about the energy and healing dynamic of food. This was followed by a course in Bach flower Therapy at The Bach Centre in the UK.

Over the years, she learnt various aspects of wellness like Past Life Regression Therapy from renowned Dr Brian Weiss at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, US, and is now
