Trish Scalia, the wife of President Donald Trump’s Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia, has tested positive for Covid-19, the Labor Department said Tuesday night.

The agency said in a statement that doctors performed the test Tuesday afternoon. She has “mild symptoms but [is] doing well,” the statement said.

Eugene Scalia, the son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, tested negative Friday night, according to the Labor Department. He has experienced no symptoms.

“The Secretary and Mrs. Scalia will follow the advice of health professionals for Trish’s recovery and the health of those around them. For the time being, the Secretary will work from home while continuing to carry out the mission of the Department and the President’s agenda,” the agency said in the statement.

The secretary and his wife attended the Rose Garden ceremony last month where Trump officially nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat of

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said Thursday the U.S. could have enough Covid-19 vaccine doses for every American as early as March, a more optimistic estimate than President Donald Trump has publicly said.

The Trump administration’s coronavirus vaccine program Operation Warp Speed expects to have up to 100 million doses by the end of the year, Azar said during a keynote speech at the Goldman Sachs Healthcare virtual event on the coronavirus. That’s “enough to cover especially vulnerable populations,” he

Washington Secretary of Health calls Trump’s tweet ‘highly irresponsible’

Shirking recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, President Donald Trump returned to the White House on Monday night, after being hospitalized with COVID-19 over the weekend.

CDC recommendations state that a person with confirmed COVID-19 should not be around others until 10 days after symptoms first appeared and that person has gone 24 hours without a fever (and not using medications to keep the fever down). Other symptoms should also be improving.

Trump, however, publicly confirmed his diagnosis early last Friday, or only four days ago. On Monday evening, however, he was seen entering the White House without a mask, into a room with aides visible to reporters, the AP reported.

Though he might not be “entirely out of the woods yet,” according to his doctor, Trump was doing well enough to be discharged.

State health officials are concerned about the president’s statements and actions following his

Azar made his vaccine comments at a congressional hearing while wearing a mask. Earlier on Friday, he tweeted that he had tested negative for COVID-19 after protectively being screened following news of President Donald Trump’s positive test.

“Out of an abundance of caution I was tested for COVID-19 this morning and the result was negative,” Azar wrote on Twitter.

Azar said six drugmakers that are receiving U.S. government funding for COVID-19 vaccine development have begun

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar on Friday defended the first family’s decision not to wear masks, one day after the president and first lady tested positive for the coronavirus. Azar said the first family is in a “different situation” than the rest of America.

“The first family and the protective aspect around the president is a different situation than the rest of us because of the protocols around the first family,” Azar said in response to questioning from Democratic Representative Nydia Velazquez during a House Coronavirus subcommittee hearing.

Azar made the statement after supporting mask use, adding “we recommend it.” In light of his endorsement, Velazquez asked the secretary how he is able to justify the president’s repeated decision not to wear a mask. “What is your reaction to the fact that the first family, that was sitting at the political debate — presidential debate were not

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said on Friday he has tested negative for COVID-19 after protectively being screened following news of President Donald Trump’s positive test.

“Out of an abundance of caution I was tested for COVID-19 this morning and the result was negative. I will be testifying before Congress as scheduled,” Azar wrote on Twitter.

Azar said during a congressional hearing on Friday that he was confident that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was not compromising its approval standards in a push to deliver a COVID-19 vaccine.

“I will be confident that my family and I should take the (COVID-19) vaccine … because any vaccine will have met FDA’s standards,” he said at the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, where he was present wearing a mask.

Scientists, public health officials and lawmakers are worried that the Trump administration will pressure the

September 29, 2020

| Global Health

President Donald J. Trump has no greater priority than the health and safety of the American people.  In today’s interconnected world, we must work to ensure health security across the globe to protect Americans.

The White House has released the annual report, “Strengthening Health Security Across the Globe: Progress and Impact of United States Government Investments in the Global Health Security Agenda,” which highlights contributions the United States has made as the global health leader to improve the capacity of our international partners to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease outbreaks.

While this report covers progress during the period before the COVID-19 pandemic, global health security is undeniably more important now than ever.  The pandemic has demonstrated that an infectious disease threat anywhere can be an infectious disease threat everywhere.

This year’s report details the results and progress achieved through United States investments in global health security, including financial
