In 25th Amendment bid, Pelosi mulls President Trump’s fitness to serve; commander in chief responds

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is questioning President Donald Trump’s fitness to serve, announcing legislation Thursday that would create a commission to allow Congress to intervene under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution and remove the president from executive duties.Just weeks before the Nov. 3 election, Pelosi said Trump needs to disclose more about his health after his COVID-19 diagnosis. She noted Trump’s “strange tweet” halting talks on a new coronavirus aid package — he subsequently tried to reverse course — and said Americans need to know when, exactly, he first contracted COVID as others in the White House became infected. On Friday, she planned to roll out the legislation that would launch the commission for review. “The public needs to know the health condition of the president,” Pelosi said, invoking the 25th Amendment, which allows a president’s Cabinet or Congress to intervene when a president is unable to conduct the … Read More

In response to the need for tutoring to supplement the online learning many middle and high school students are facing, the NevadaTeach program at the University of Nevada, Reno has set up opportunities for free virtual tutoring for mathematics and science courses.

NevadaTeach students are offering free virtual tutoring for 6th – 12th grade students in order to contribute to the success of the students in the community. Due to the shift to online learning, NevadaTeach faculty wanted to find a way to help students. Typically, NevadaTeach pre-service teachers apply their knowledge and skills learned within their NevadaTeach coursework to field-based interactions with students in middle and high schools. With distance and hybrid learning, as well as social distance guidelines within schools, these valuable field-based interactions are difficult or impossible to obtain. To allow the pre-service teachers these valuable interactions, the faculty put together free online tutoring. The tutors consist

Cooper Responds To Trump Anti-Mask Stance

NORTH CAROLINA — As coronavirus trends start to head in a troubling direction throughout the state, President Donald Trump’s refusal to wear a mask at most times while still contagious with COVID-19 is frustrating, North Carolina’s governor said Tuesday.

“Day-in and day-out, the virus is seizing opportunities to spread. The most dangerous time is when people drop their guard and think this isn’t serious,” Gov. Roy Cooper said Tuesday during a news conference. “As we saw in Washington over the weekend, the virus is quick to spread and many times slow to leave.”

Cooper’s comments come less than a day after President Donald Trump made a returned to the White House following a three-day hospitalization for COVID-19, ripping off his face mask and posing for reporters before entering the mansion without it.

The president later tweeted a video telling Americans they shouldn’t be afraid of the coronavirus and shouldn’t let

Statistics show an ‘unacceptable and appalling increase’

Mr Apter said:

“These statistics show an unacceptable and appalling 29 per cent increase on emergency service workers, compared to the same period last year. Given that police officers are doing their level best to help protect people during this pandemic, some people need to take a long, hard look at themselves and their behaviour.

“Being assaulted as a frontline worker, whether that’s police, fire, health or prison, must not be tolerated and those who do so must feel the full weight of the criminal justice system come down on them.

“The recent return to pre-COVID crime levels comes as no surprise, as during lockdown there were fewer people out and therefore less opportunities to commit crime. Regrettably, I am not surprised either to see the rise in the number of call outs for mental health incidents. This has been steadily increasing year

Lake Jackson is currently under a boil water notice as state and local officials work to flush and disinfect the city’s water supply.

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration Sunday for Brazoria County in response to the brain-eating amoeba found in the city water supply for Lake Jackson.

Residents living in the city of Lake Jackson are currently under a “boil water” notice as local and state officials continue to flush and disinfect the water system.

On Saturday, the city’s mayor issued a disaster declaration that activated the local Emergency Operations Center and allowed officials to access additional resources in response.

Abbotts’ order temporarily suspends any state regulatory statues that could prevent or delay necessary action from the state in helping Brazoria County recover from this disaster. It also helps the county receive assistance from any necessary state agencies.

Editor’s Note: The above video was
