A California man who falsely claimed to be a combat-injured Marine with two Purple Hearts so he could receive medical and housing benefits was sentenced federal prison on Thursday.

City of Orange, California, resident James Stiles, 43, received 16 months in prison and was ordered to pay $167,234 in restitution, City News Service reported.

Stiles was charged with seven counts of government fraud, which included almost $195,000 in medical visits and some $4,000 housing payments, according to court documents obtained Friday by Marine Corps Times.

The Veterans Administration Office of Inspector General was the investigating agency in Stiles’ case and filed charges of healthcare fraud, theft of government property, false statements and committing an offense against the government, according to documents.

Stiles was reportedly confronted by the VA in April 2016 and admitted to lying about serving in the Marine Corps from 1995 to 2005, with a combat tour in

President Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in an exclusive interview Thursday that his campaign is trying to make last-minute arrangements for holding weekend rallies in Florida and Pennsylvania after White House physician Dr. Sean Conley cleared him for public engagements earlier in the day.

“I think I’m going to try doing a rally on Saturday night if we have enough time to put it together,” Trump said on “Hannity”.

WH DR: TRUMP CAN RETURN TO PUBLIC ENGAGEMENTS THIS WEEKEND

“We want to do a rally probably in Florida on Saturday night. I might come back and do one in Pennsylvania the following night,” he said, adding that “it’s incredible what’s going on. I feel so good.”

Dr. Conley sent out a memorandum Thursday evening stating that Trump will be able to return to public engagements this weekend, noting that Saturday will mark ten days since he was first diagnosed

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — President Donald Trump declared, “I get it,” in a message to the nation Sunday evening before briefly leaving the hospital to greet cheering supporters from his motorcade, a surprising move that suggested that his health — and his understanding of the coronavirus — may be improving.

Hours earlier, the president’s medical team confirmed that his blood oxygen level dropped suddenly twice in recent days. But they also said he could be discharged as early as Monday.

“It’s been a very interesting journey. I learned a lot about COVID,” Trump said, standing in his hospital room in a video posted on social media. “I learned it by really going to school.”

He added, “I get it, and I understand it.”

Pelosi says she’s receiving Trump health updates through the media, not briefings

October 4, 2020
| Health Facts

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Sunday she is receiving health updates on President Trump, who is in the hospital with the coronavirus, through the media and not through official briefings or contact with the White House.

Why it matters: Pelosi is second in the line of succession behind Vice President Mike Pence.

  • The media has played a significant role in bringing to light the negligence of White House officials in containing the coronavirus, as well as in making sense of the confusing narrative coming from the Trump administration surrounding the president’s health.

What she’s saying: “We’re getting our information the way everyone else is, in the media,” Pelosi told CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

  • “But in terms of the succession, that’s an ongoing process. Sadly at this time, it comes to the forefront,” she added.
  • “We pray for his good health, his speedy recovery. But I hope it will

| Health Article

President Trump is reportedly receiving an experimental antiviral medication called remdesivir after contracting for Covid-19.

NBC News reported that Trump was given his first dose of the drug at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland on Friday. The president is expected to continue to receive the drug over the course of five days via IV.

Remdesivir is a drug that was manufactured by Gilead Sciences and is used to lower the amount of the virus within the body. Clinical trials from May revealed that the drug lowered the hospitalization of COVID-19 patients by about four days.

Trump is reportedly receiving remdesivir as a part of a double-barreled treatment plan that includes an antibody cocktail.

Although the medication Trump has received is still in its clinical phase, Dr. Hugh Cassiere, director of critical care services for Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital, told the

President Donald Trump is receiving an experimental antiviral for Covid-19 called remdesivir as he remains hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The drug is being given as part of a double-barreled treatment plan that includes an antibody cocktail meant to give the president’s immune system a boost to fight off the coronavirus.

The president was given the first dose of remdesivir Friday evening and will be on a five-day course of the IV drug, his physician, Dr. Sean Conley, said during a news conference Saturday.

Full coverage of the coronavirus outbreak

Remdesivir, manufactured by Gilead Sciences, works by lowering the amount of virus in the body. Clinical trial data published in May found that the drug reduced patients’ length of hospital stay by about four days, from 15 days to a median of 11 days.

In July, additional data showed remdesivir may reduce deaths.

Donald Trump is being treated with an experimental antibody drug that has shown promising initial early results but has yet to be peer-reviewed. According to statement from his doctor, the president has received a single eight-gram dose of an antibody cocktail called REGN-COV2 – a combination of two human neutralising antibodies against the virus.

The treatment was developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, which previously developed a similar antibody drug against Ebola. He is also taking zinc, vitamin D, melatonin, aspirin and the heartburn drug famotidine – often sold in the US under the brand name Pepcid. Although the drug has not been shown to work against coronavirus, researchers are studying it as a possible treatment.

‘Fatigued’ Trump receiving experimental antibodies treatment

October 2, 2020

| Health Article

US President Donald Trump is receiving an experimental treatment of synthetic antibodies for Covid-19, his doctor said Friday, and is “fatigued but in good spirits.”

Trump received a single dose of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail, according to a letter issued by White House physician Sean Conley.

The treatment is undergoing clinical trials but hasn’t received any form of regulatory approval.

“He’s being evaluated by a team of experts, and together we’ll be making recommendations to the President and First Lady in regards to next best steps,” Conley said.

Trump — who has repeatedly cast doubt on the seriousness of the pandemic — first announced in an overnight tweet that he and First Lady Melania Trump, 50, had tested positive and were going into quarantine.

Earlier this week, Regeneron announced results from one of its early-stage trials which showed its drug, which is infused intravenously, reduced viral load and recovery time in

On Tuesday, a day after Rodney Daniels, 44, faced a judge on charges of first-degree sexual assault and making a false statement, a spokesperson for DPH said the department’s investigation was ongoing.

The extent of DPH’s investigation into the matter was unclear, but the department has purview over regulating hospitals.

Daniels remains in custody on $500,000 bail as he awaits an Oct. 26 court date.

In an arrest warrant affidavit, investigators noted that hospital staff took more than five hours to notify authorities about suspicions that Daniels had sexually assaulted the woman.

When asked about the delay, a hospital spokeswoman said she could not comment further, citing medical privacy laws.

The hospital’s president, Peter Cordeau,
