OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – With Halloween just around the corner, health officials are releasing guidelines for families who want to safely enjoy the festivities surrounding the fall season.

“There are a multitude of ways people can safely enjoy the holiday season this year, and connect with loved ones without putting anyone in unnecessary risk,” said Dr. Lance Frye, Oklahoma Commissioner of Health.  “Celebrate, but celebrate wisely, and continue following the three W’s: wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.”

Officials with the Oklahoma State Department of Health say celebrating Halloween virtually or just with members of your own household is encouraged.

Doctors with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department says after each holiday during the pandemic, there has been a noticeable spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.

“We’ve now been through multiple holidays during the COVID pandemic, and after each holiday, there is a verified spike in

Minnesota health officials connect COVID-19 cases to Trump, Biden campaign events

October 14, 2020

| Health Current Events

Minnesota health officials said Monday that they have connected more than two dozen coronavirus cases to Trump and Biden campaign events in the state.

Sixteen cases have been tied to a Bemidji outdoor airport rally the president hosted Sept. 18, according to state health officials. Of these, four were reported by protesters at the event, according to state infectious disease director Kris Ehresmann. Ehresmann added that not all of the cases were necessarily contracted at the event.

Officials said three more cases involved people who attended a Sept. 30 Duluth Trump rally, as well as another three tied to attendees of a Sept. 24 Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport event where Vice President Pence appeared. At least one person attended both of those events, and cases tied to the Duluth event were part of the same household, according to Ehresmann.

The state also traced two cases to attendees of Biden campaign

Utah officials announce new pandemic strategy, mask mandates

| Health News

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah is implementing a new strategy to fight the coronavirus pandemic as the number of confirmed cases and hospitalizations continued to surge, state officials announced Tuesday.

The state will move away from its color-coded health system and instead place counties under restrictions based on their COVID-19 transmission rates, said Gov. Gary Herbert. Each county will be listed as high, moderate or low level transmission areas.

Six counties — Salt Lake, Utah, Cache, Garfield, Juab and Wasatch — have been designated as high transmission areas. Masks will be required in all indoor settings in these counties, and social gatherings must be limited to 10 people or fewer, said Rich Saunders, acting director of the Utah Department of Health.

In moderate transmission areas, gatherings will be limited to 25 or fewer unless masks are worn, said Saunders. Gatherings will be limited to 50 or fewer in low

“We have worked very hard to slow the spread of COVID by taking a measured approach to protect the community,” according to a statement from the Metro Public Health Department in Nashville.

“The Health Department is very concerned by the actions that took place at the event and we are investigating and will pursue appropriate penalties against the organizer.”

Sean Feucht, a Christian worship musician in Northern California and creator of the faith-based political activist movement Hold The Line, led the event in front of the Nashville Metro Courthouse on Sunday.

Jones said customers who were in the store for brief periods — less than 15 minutes — are not likely to have health concerns related to exposure to the employees. (If they feel symptomatic they should be tested, she stressed.)

Dept of Health officials dismissed criticism of Covid tracker app as ‘incorrect’

October 13, 2020

| Dept Of Health

An academic research paper which was critical of the government’s Covid Tracker app was dismissed as “incorrect” and closer to “journalism” than research by the Department of Health.

The criticism was made regarding a paper compiled by Doug Leith and Stephen Farrell, academics within the school of computer science at Trinity College Dublin, which asserted, among other things, that the new app was sharing a great deal of personal information with Google.

In communication with Science Foundation Ireland, one of the app’s sponsors, a senior official in the Department of Health said “once again, Douglas Leith and Stephen Farrell have bounced a paper to… which contains a range of sweeping presumptions and assertions relating to the privacy of the app”.

“Although framed in the format of a scientific paper, it is journalistic in much of its narrative,” the official said.

It is incorrect on certain key points and it is

These Angelenos Need To Get Coronavirus Tested, Officials Warn

October 13, 2020
| Health Article

LOS ANGELES, CA —More than 100,000 people took to the streets of Los Angeles over the weekend in support of Armenia and to celebrate the Lakers, and if you were among them, you should get tested for the coronavirus, county health officials said Monday.

Unable to stop Angelenos from avoiding crowds, health officials are trying another tack: getting participants tested before they can unknowingly spread the coronavirus to others. It’s an approached learned from the widespread demonstrations that played a role in the summer surge.

In a statement, the county Department of Public Health insisted that COVID-19 “remains easily spread among people who are in close contact with an infected person.”

While not specifically mentioning either of Sunday’s large gatherings, health officials called on anyone who spent time in a large crowd to get tested for the virus.

“If you were in a crowd with non-household members, especially if people
