“Man Enough,” the New Zealand version of Australian documentary format “Man Up,” which tackles male mental health issues, is due to land on TVNZ 1 this month.

Fronted by “Celebrity Treasure Island” host Matt Chisholm, the series (2 x 44′) is backed by men’s health charity Movember and was produced by Wellington-based production outfit Gibson Group during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the series, Chisolm sets out on a personal journey into the world of masculinity, on a mission to break the silence around male suicide and challenge ideas about what it means to be a modern man. He visits rugby clubs, construction sites, boardrooms, men’s barbershops and boxing gyms, asking whether men can be “man enough” to open up.

U.K.-based independent factual distributor TVF International is launching both “Man Enough” and “Man Up” globally this week at the virtual Mipcom market. TVF International acquisitions manager Julian Chou-Lambert acquired the original

A California man who falsely claimed to be a combat-injured Marine with two Purple Hearts so he could receive medical and housing benefits was sentenced federal prison on Thursday.

City of Orange, California, resident James Stiles, 43, received 16 months in prison and was ordered to pay $167,234 in restitution, City News Service reported.

Stiles was charged with seven counts of government fraud, which included almost $195,000 in medical visits and some $4,000 housing payments, according to court documents obtained Friday by Marine Corps Times.

The Veterans Administration Office of Inspector General was the investigating agency in Stiles’ case and filed charges of healthcare fraud, theft of government property, false statements and committing an offense against the government, according to documents.

Stiles was reportedly confronted by the VA in April 2016 and admitted to lying about serving in the Marine Corps from 1995 to 2005, with a combat tour in

A man from Orange was sentenced Thursday after pretending to be a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran and a two-time Purple Heart recipient to fraudulently obtain health care and housing benefits, officials said.

After pleading guilty on June 18 to one count of health care fraud, James Stiles, 43, was sentenced Thursday to 16 months in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney Central District of California. He was also ordered to pay $167,234 in restitution.

In November 2012, Stiles applied for health care benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs by submitting and signing a fraudulent application, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. He falsely claimed on the form that he had served in the Marine Corps from 1995 to 2005, and that he was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat.

After enrolling in the health care benefit program, Stiles scheduled and received 692 outpatient treatments

Medical Battery: Patient and Proxy Didn’t Agree to Penis Mass Excision

A California appeals court has confirmed a multimillion dollar judgment awarded to a man who sustained injuries following penis surgery neither he nor his medical proxy consented to, according to a story posted on Legal Newsline.

In 2014, Keith Burchell went to Loma Linda University Medical Center, in Loma Linda, California, to have a small scrotal mass removed for testing. The outpatient procedure was supposed to be a relatively simple one.

During the procedure, however, Burchell’s surgeon, of Faculty Physicians and Surgeons of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine (FPS), discovered that the mass was more extensive than his presurgical exams had indicated, involving not only Burchell’s scrotum but his penis as well.

Believing this larger tumor to be malignant — and convinced that even a benign one of this size posed a potential risk should it continue

The first person to be cured of HIV, Timothy Ray Brown — known as the “Berlin Patient” — has died after a battle with cancer, the International Aids Society (IAS) announced Wednesday.

Brown made medical history and became a  symbol of hope for the tens of millions of people living with the virus that causes AIDS when he was cured more than a decade ago.

He had been living with a recurrence of leukaemia for several months and received hospice care at his home in Palm Springs, California.

“On behalf of all its members… the IAS sends its condolences to Timothy’s partner, Tim, and his family and friends,” said IAS President Adeeba Kamarulzaman.

“We owe Timothy and his doctor, Gero Hutter, a great deal of gratitude for opening the door for scientists to explore the concept that a cure for HIV is possible.”

Brown was diagnosed with HIV while was

On Tuesday, a day after Rodney Daniels, 44, faced a judge on charges of first-degree sexual assault and making a false statement, a spokesperson for DPH said the department’s investigation was ongoing.

The extent of DPH’s investigation into the matter was unclear, but the department has purview over regulating hospitals.

Daniels remains in custody on $500,000 bail as he awaits an Oct. 26 court date.

In an arrest warrant affidavit, investigators noted that hospital staff took more than five hours to notify authorities about suspicions that Daniels had sexually assaulted the woman.

When asked about the delay, a hospital spokeswoman said she could not comment further, citing medical privacy laws.

The hospital’s president, Peter Cordeau,

Michael Moran is determined to meet two goals in the next 18 months: to lose a substantial amount of weight and chronicle his ups and downs in a feature-length documentary.

“Right now, this is my magnum opus,” said Moran, a Lonsdale resident. “I’m just excited to challenge myself and take it on.”

Documentaries advocating for better health strike a cord with Moran. He’s dealt with health issues and weight struggles his whole life. At over 500 pounds, his weight has contributed to limited mobility as well as knee and hip problems.

A turning point for Moran happened earlier this year when he visited the ER with symptoms related to high blood pressure. At 36 and weighing 532 pounds, he thought, “I’m not going to make it to 46, and I need to figure something out.” Moran especially wanted to make a change for the sake of his two children, William,
