The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District reported 145 new coronavirus cases Saturday, 32 more than those reported Friday, bringing Bexar County’s total case count to 58,184.
Just last Saturday, Bexar County was at 54,295 cases. That means a 7 percent increase in a week, but a majority of the increase is attributed to backlogged cases, with Metro Health reporting 2,794 last Sunday and an additional 469 cases Tuesday — 207 of which were also backlogged.
Five new San Antonian deaths were reported Saturday, including a Black woman in her 60s; men in their 70s — one Hispanic and one white; a white man in his 80s; and a man in his 50s whose ethnicity was not listed. Each of the deceased had underlying health conditions.
