Health officials in Nashville, Tennessee, are investigating an outdoor religious concert that they say took place downtown without a permit on Sunday and drew large crowds of people who weren’t wearing masks.

Nashville health officials are looking into a religious concert held downtown on Sunday that drew large crowds of people who weren’t wearing masks.

“We have worked very hard to slow the spread of COVID by taking a measured approach to protect the community,” according to a statement from the Metro Public Health Department in Nashville.

“The Health Department is very concerned by the actions that took place at the event and we are investigating and will pursue appropriate penalties against the organizer.”

Sean Feucht, a Christian worship musician in Northern California and creator of the faith-based political activist movement Hold The Line, led the event in front of the Nashville Metro Courthouse on Sunday.

Health department investigating after ‘worship protest’ drew thousands

Christian worship leader Sean Feucht hosted a “worship protest” that drew thousands of people — who appeared to be largely maskless — to the courthouse grounds in Nashville on Sunday night.

Feucht, who is based in California and has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across social media, posted a video of the gathering, saying the event faced resistance and had three venue changes before landing at the courthouse.

Health, university officials investigating after 11 COVID-19 cases linked to UNH frat party

Eleven cases of COVID-19 have been linked to a party at a University of New Hampshire fraternity, state health officials said.>> Download the free WMUR appOfficials said more than 100 people with little mask-wearing and no social distancing were at the Aug. 29 off-campus party held by Theta Chi fraternity. This is the first cluster of COVID-19 reported at a college or university in New Hampshire.”We determined that at least one person with confirmed COVID-19 infection attended this party,” said Dr. Beth Daly, chief of the state Bureau of Infectious Disease Control. “That is how we learned about the party that did occur.”That person was asymptomatic, officials said. State health department investigating sexual assault of sedated patient by man receiving treatment for PCP use at Norwalk Hospital

The state Department of Public Health is investigating after a Stamford man, receiving treatment for PCP use, was recently charged with sexually assaulting a heavily sedated woman at Norwalk Hospital late last month.

On Tuesday, a day after Rodney Daniels, 44, faced a judge on charges of first-degree sexual assault and making a false statement, a spokesperson for DPH said the department’s investigation was ongoing.

The extent of DPH’s investigation into the matter was unclear, but the department has purview over regulating hospitals.

Daniels remains in custody on $500,000 bail as he awaits an Oct. 26 court date.

In an arrest warrant affidavit, investigators noted that hospital staff took more than five hours to notify authorities about suspicions that Daniels had sexually assaulted the woman.

When asked about the delay, a hospital spokeswoman said she could not comment further, citing medical privacy laws.

Department of health investigating COVID-19 outbreak at Norwich nursing home

NORWICH, Conn. — The Connecticut Department of Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak at the Three Rivers Nursing Home. 

Officials say so far 13 residents and two staff members have tested positive for the virus. Several residents have been hospitalized and one has since died. 

The DPH released a statement Thursday evening regarding their investigation as they try to determine how the virus was introduced into the home. 

“This unfortunate outbreak underscores the need for all of us to keep our guard up in the fight against COVID-19,” said Acting DPH Commissioner Deidre S. Gifford, MD MPH. “COVID is still present in our communities and the virus can spread quickly if we do not remain vigilant about controlling the infection.DPH is conducting an analysis to determine how the virus may have been introduced into Three Rivers, and we are investigating all aspects of this facility’s infection control practices, including appropriate

Health department investigating cluster of Legionnaires’ disease in N.J. that has left 2 dead

Two people have died and two others have been sickened by a cluster of Legionnaires’ disease cases in Hamilton Township in Mercer County, officials announced Friday.

The four residents became ill between Aug. 18 and 24, but no other information about them was released due to HIPPA, according to a release from the township.

“While the risk to our residents remains low, Legionnaires’ disease can be a serious illness especially for those who are older or have underlying health concerns,” Hamilton Township Health Officer Christopher Hellwig said in the release. “If you’re not feeling well and have respiratory illness like symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, and headache I encourage you to speak with your medical provider. Legionnaires’ disease can be successfully treated with antibiotics, and is not spread from person-to-person”

Legionnaires’ disease is caused by bacteria called Legionella. It can be contracted by breathing
