COVID-19 treatment: Dealing with denial of cashless settlement and huge deductions in health insurance claims

In the past few months, we’ve heard several stories of people with health insurance policies facing claim rejections, not getting cashless treatments, or having to pay hospital bills out of pocket for COVID-19 hospitalizations. There could be many reasons that insurers give for rejecting claims. Some situations are avoidable. Huge questions for UK govt after spike in virus cases

October 5, 2020

| Health Article

LONDON (AP) — The British government faced huge questions Monday over its coronavirus testing system after a technical glitch led to the under-reporting of new infections over the past week or so, a failing that could have given fresh impetus to the current outbreak and ultimately to an uptick in deaths.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock is due to make a statement to lawmakers later Monday after the opposition Labour Party asked the government to explain why the cases were not tabulated when they should have been.

The latest problems to afflict the U.K.’s test and trace program emerged over the weekend when public health officials revealed that a total of 15,841 virus cases weren’t tabulated from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2.

The government said the “technical issue” was discovered Friday night and has now been resolved. The problem is thought to have stemmed from file limitations on the Excel spreadsheets

(WFSB) – For many, this pandemic has been a stressful time that has taken a toll on our health.

Dentists have had to navigate new safety procedures all while being swamped with emergency visits.

When coronavirus shut down most of the state, Columbia Dental was still open and busy treating patients who needed emergency care.

“I’ve been doing this for twenty-five years and I’ve never seen so many emergencies, so many cracked teeth during this pandemic,” said Dr. Abbas Mohammadi, DDS, Columbia Dental.

Stress has people grinding their teeth and that can lead to long-term damage and broken teeth.

Many people aren’t even aware they’re doing it while they sleep but may have a sore jaw or headache in the morning.

“No matter what, they are going to grind their teeth, but wearing the nightguard, they are going to prevent damage,” Dr. Mohammadi said.

So, mouthguards offer some protection, but

Sept. 27 (UPI) — Experts are predicting a surge in COVID-19 cases in the fall and winter months as new cases rise while some areas continue to lift restrictions related to the pandemic.

The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation’s model forecasts that daily deaths from the coronavirus could surge from 765 to 3,000 by late December.

The United States leads the world in cases and deaths, reporting 7,093,285 cases and 204,606 deaths, according to data gathered by John’s Hopkins University.

IHME Director Dr. Chris Murray said the model shows a “huge surge” beginning in October and accelerating through the end of the year, warning that the winter surge may have already begun in Europe.

“Cases are exploding there. So we know it’s coming and we expect it to hit the U.S. pretty soon,” he said.

Murray added that changes in behavior due to easing of coronavirus
