WASHINGTON (CN) — Democrats drilling Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett buckled down Tuesday on their warnings that Republicans are commandeering the high court to overturn the landmark health care legislation that protects those with preexisting conditions, among the 7 million Americans who contracted Covid-19 this year.

In lockstep, the Senate minority has defined Barrett as a President Donald Trump’s pick to overturn the Affordable Care Act by giving the Supreme Court a 6-3 conservative majority in time for a hearing next month where the Justice Department backs conservative states fighting the ACA.

Before Trump nominated Barrett to the Seventh Circuit in 2017, the longtime professor had criticized Chief Justice John Roberts for pushing the Affordable Care Act “beyond its plausible meaning to save

With current and former patients participating – including grandmothers, mothers and daughters – the campaign highlights the longevity and trust that is a hallmark of Planned Parenthood’s health and educational services, which are more important than ever due to the impact of COVID-19 on health and economic well-being.

“We believe healthy communities make sure everyone has access to the care they need – no matter what,” said Tanya Atkinson, president and CEO of PPWI. “For more than 85 years, we have remained committed to the health and well-being of generations of individuals and families in Wisconsin by providing affordable, quality health care. SCOTUS Fight Will Highlight GOP’s Health Care Liability

October 9, 2020

| Better Health

On Monday, President Trump promised his familiar fiction of a surprise health care policy in a tweet storm from Walter Reed medical center. A barrage of nearly 30 all-caps, Trump-style campaign sloganeering included this gem: “BETTER & CHEAPER HEALTH CARE. VOTE !” Laughable as it was, he topped himself on Wednesday. In a video boasting he had been cured of the coronavirus (there is no cure) and was blessed to have been infected by it, Trump announced he would be making an experimental antiviral medication produced by Regeneron available to everyone free of charge.

Just as a medicine not even cleared for emergency-use authorization, and which only 10 people have taken, will most certainly not be accessible to all Americans suffering from COVID-19 — let alone for free — Trump has not and will not provide cheaper and better health care.

There are many things Republicans, desperate to hold on

Texas Dems highlight health care in fight to flip state House

October 8, 2020

| Health Article

Texas Democrats are making health care the heart of their final pitch as they look to flip the state House, which Republicans have held since 2002.

In a “contract with Texas” that Democrats are rolling out Thursday and which was shared first with The Hill, the party is touting policies it would try to enact should it flip the net nine seats it needs to gain control of the chamber. The central pillar of the plan is expanding Medicaid in Texas, which has the highest number and rate of uninsured people in the nation, as well as boosting coverage for children and making care for women more equal.

The party is betting that voters in the state who normally rank health care as a top issue will be even more receptive to messages around expanding coverage in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, which has hit the Lone Star State
