The Outpatient Clinic at The Children’s Center of Hamden provides behavioral health and substance use treatment to children and teens ages 3-18 years of age. Two Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for teens 12-18 years old meet for three hours in the late afternoon after school and enhance the outpatient treatment experience with group therapy sessions. The IOP has successfully helped youth who struggle with anxiety, depression, social concerns, bullying, trauma, grief, anger, problems in school and more. Coatbridge Rovers FC have shown their commitment to helping people’s mental health after coaches of all nine teams and club officials passed an e-learning course.

In May, the Scottish Football Association, in association with Breathing Space, became the first of the home nations to create their own bespoke course, to help clubs understand the importance of mental health and learn how to deal with issues effectively.

The club also recognised that people in their community might be struggling with lockdown, isolation, quarantine and everything else connected to the coronavirus crisis, and have set up a service where, to date, they have collected and delivered 350 prescriptions from chemists to residents, organised 470 shopping deliveries, paid gas and electricity bills for 50 households and provided a 24/7 phone number with help and support for people looking for a friendly voice to talk to.

On Wednesday mornings, the club run a Walk

White House now has two CDC epidemiologists helping with contact tracing

October 9, 2020

| Health Article

President Trump and at least 34 White House staff members and other contacts have tested positive for the virus, according to Wednesday’s senior leadership brief on the covid-19 response prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Some of those people are suspected of having become infected at White House and Republican National Committee events.

The White House by Tuesday completed contact tracing related to the president’s infection and cases involving several other people, a senior White House official said, raising concerns among infectious-disease experts about whether a thorough investigation could be completed so quickly. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters, said anyone meeting the CDC’s definition of “close contact” with someone who tested positive had been notified and given health recommendations.

It remains unclear when the White House began contact tracing. If the effort did not begin right away, or go far back

Hunger is nonpartisan, so these initiatives are helping fight food insecurity at polling places on Election Day

| Health Food

Hunger and food insecurity should not stand in the way of Americans who want to exercise their right to vote.

This year, more groups, companies and initiatives have created campaigns to ensure that voters who show up to polling places on Nov. 3 for the 2020 election can do so without fear of going home hungry, missing a meal or being unable to provide food for their families.

From pizza deliveries and food trucks to healthy, gourmet-prepared and catered meals, organizations such as Feed the Polls and Pizza to the Polls are raising money and awareness in order to feed food-insecure voters for free.

The state agriculture department is stepping in to boost COVID-19 testing among farmworkers but Immokalee isn’t slated for help, according to state officials.

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is working with the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences to provide more testing among farmworkers in advance of the fall harvest season. The state’s Division of Emergency Management will also be involved.

However, Collier is not targeted for ramped up testing even though Immokalee in eastern Collier was a hot spot for COVID-19 when migrant farmworkers were still present this past spring.

Immokalee is the hub of the $4 billion that agriculture

“It’s one of the most horrendous experiences a human being can go through … The grieving and the sadness is unmeasurable,” echoes Dr. Janelle Luk, Medical Director of Generation Next Fertility in New York City and a former OB-GYN.

September 28, 2020

| Community Health

(WXYZ) — The COVID-19 pandemic is proving to be a challenging time for people of all ages across metro Detroit.

Now, thanks to aid from the federal government, many adults and children can get better access to critical services – including help for depression, anxiety and substance abuse.

Bob Sheehan is the CEO of the Community Health Association of Michigan. The group provides mental health care across the state with help from grant funding.

According to Sheehan, people are drinking more than ever in the middle of the pandemic, and it can be hard to know where to start if you’re seeking help.

Anyone in Michigan can call 211 around the clock to start feeling better.

In Michigan, there’s an initiative called the “certified community health behavioral centers.”

Those certified centers are now fully reimbursed by Medicaid, making it easier for more people to get help.

If you’re reluctant to
