(Reuters) – Eli Lilly & Co on Wednesday said other trials of its experimental coronavirus antibody therapy remain on track after a government-run study testing the treatment in hospitalized COVID-19 patients was paused due to safety concerns.

Lilly said on Tuesday that an independent safety monitoring board requested a pause in the trial, called ACTIV-3, due to a potential safety issue.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is collaborating with Lilly on the trial, said the advisory board paused the trial after seeing a “difference in clinical status” between patients on Lilly’s drug on those who received a placebo, without providing further detail.

The FDA added that follow-up testing should be done on negatives, not positives.

However, state public health officials issued guidance to the contrary, which led to data showing 60% of a sample of

September 25, 2020

In what was intended to be a research study to help determine how the COVID-19 virus is spread in communities throughout Minnesota, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) began dispatching two-person teams into communities for voluntary participation in a survey called CASPER (Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response).

Two Wright County Public Health employees – Shelley Layer and Chastity Booth – were joined by registered nurses to conduct the surveys in the cities of Delano, Rockford, Annandale and Maple Lake and their experience was overwhelmingly positive. That wasn’t the case in other areas of the state, where workers were harassed, intimidated by armed residents, subject to racial slurs and treated in a manner far removed from the cliché “Minnesota Nice.”

In a surprise announcement, CDC
