Despite a family medical emergency, ‘Ya Fav Trashman’ holds a food drive for Philly’s frontline workers as COVID cases rise

Terrill Haigler, more widely known as Ya Fav Trashman, the Instagram account he created to plead for hazard pay, masks and gloves for sanitation workers amid the coronavirus pandemic, continued his generosity Saturday as his mother fought for her life.

Haigler hosted a food drive for all frontline workers in Philadelphia — from the Streets Department and SEPTA, to the city’s many hospitals and emergency responders. The collection took place in the parking lot of the church he attends, the Voice of Praise Worldwide Ministries, on the 3500 block of Old York Road in the Logan section.

“The frontline workers sacrifice a lot to go to work every day, and I just wanted them to have one less thing to worry about,” Haigler said Saturday afternoon even as he bore his own worries.

NAMI Frontline Wellness Launches on World Mental Health Day

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — In an effort to support frontline professionals with their immediate and future mental health needs—today, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has launched NAMI Frontline Wellness: a COVID-19 mental health initiative in partnership with #FirstRespondersFirst. With support from Starbucks, KIND Snacks, Frontline Impact Project, Johnson & Johnson Foundation, Thrive Global, Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, and the CAA Foundation, NAMI will contribute to the existing initiative through a community-centered approach that provides supportive resources tailored to the needs of frontline health care and public safety professionals. Main Squeeze Juice Co., New Orleans Saints Stars Donate Wellness Shots, Smoothies to Frontline Workers

In an effort to boost healthcare workers’ physical and cognitive health during COVID-19, Main Squeeze Juice Company, the New Orleans-based juice and smoothie franchise whose ownership group includes New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead and former Saints receiver Marques Colston, has delivered 10,000 wellness shots, smoothies and juices to those on the frontlines.

The initiative kicked off during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March, and has since made deliveries to various medical and health facilities throughout various parts of Louisiana, including New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport. A delivery was also made to a local hospital in Houston, Texas.
