CONCORD, N.H. — Health care advocates say the fate of the Affordable Care Act is on the line, as the first day of Senate confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court wrapped up.

President Donald Trump’s nominee would cement a 6-3 conservative majority on the high court. Marissa Padilla was principal deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the Obama administration. She said if Coney Barrett is confirmed before the high court hears a case on the ACA on November 10, the law could fall.

And that would have major consequences for New Hampshire.

“Repealing it could threaten coverage for more than 570,000 Granite Staters with pre-existing conditions,” Padilla said. “Repealing the ACA could also kick more

Gold Price Forecast: XAU/USD’s fate hinges on Trump’s health, 21-DMA

| Health Facts

  • Gold bounces alongside improvement in US President Trump’s health.
  • Developments around Trump’s health to be the key decider.
  • Gold stays below 21-DMA ahead of the US Markit, ISM Services PMIs.

Heading into a new week, the risk sentiment witnessed a major turnaround alongside the apparent improvement in US President Donald Trump’s health condition. The US dollar gave back a minor part of its last Friday’s surge amid the upbeat market mood, as Gold (XAU/USD) showed some signs of life around the $1900 mark. The ongoing optimism over the additional US fiscal stimulus also offered some support to the yieldless gold.  The yellow metal gained over 2% last week, settling Friday below the $1900 level. Friday’s slide was courtesy of the resurgent haven demand for the greenback after Trump and his wife were diagnosed with COVID-19.

Looking ahead, the price action in gold will likely depend on the fresh updates concerning

“Obamacare is terrible. It doesn’t work. We’ve made the best of it,” Trump said at a White House news conference, one day after he had introduced Judge Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to succeed the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Democrats say Trump is rushing the nomination in hopes of improving his reelection chances and in preparation for a potential court fight over the results. But with little chance to block Barrett’s confirmation, Democrats are increasingly turning to the practical question of her vote in a case the high court will hear a week after Election Day.

“If we can end Obamacare and come up with a much better health-care system that’s much cheaper and much better, which is what we’ll do,” the country would be better off, Trump said.

Democrats think Barrett could spell the end of the law’s popular guarantee that health care cannot be denied to

After the arrival of a global pandemic, Ben Lucas discovered the power of reinvention. “It saved our business,” he says.

Lucas is a co-owner of Flow Athletic, a yoga studio and gym in the Sydney suburb of Paddington. Like many in the Australian fitness industry, he has had to transform the way he does business in 2020 – but he’s met each challenge head-on.

In March, as the Covid-19 situation began to escalate, Flow prepared for the inevitable and loaned out 120 spin bikes to members so they could train at home. Then, once fitness studios were ordered to shut, it was quick to act: within 24 hours, Flow had moved its class schedule online. Lucas set up four Facebook groups – dedicated to yoga, strength, spin and pilates – so staff could live stream multiple classes at a time. Personal training appointments were conducted over Zoom or FaceTime. Even
