DUBLIN, Oct. 13, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — The “Electronic Health Information Exchange Market” report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering.

This report examines the technology, technology providers, and market trends in Electronic Health Information Exchange (HIE) services.

This report evaluates the current industry trends in HIE products and services. It also identifies the key vendors and their strategies. The report also answers the basic questions: What is an Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR)?, What is an EHR database?, and Why is there a need for an HIE?

Simply stated, an Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a digital version of a patient’s paper chart. While many leading companies are increasingly moving towards digital retention of records via EHR databases, information is typically available only within a closed system. In other words, medical facilities that are not part of the same group often cannot exchange data between their EHR systems.

PHOENIX, Oct. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Governor Ducey has proclaimed October 11-17, 2020 as Arizona Health Information Exchange (HIE) Week to reaffirm Arizona’s commitment to promoting the secure sharing of electronic health data across a broad spectrum of the state’s healthcare landscape, including health systems and hospitals, labs, community behavioral health and physical health providers, post-acute care and hospice providers, first responders, and many others.

“We’re thankful for this proclamation, as it’s an important recognition of Arizona’s significant efforts over the last 15 years. Ultimately, the success of the HIE reflects the collaborative environment of the state’s healthcare community,” said Melissa Kotrys, CEO of Health Current, Arizona’s designated HIE. “As a result, all healthcare providers have the ability to access more complete patient information for better coordinated care—which is especially important during times of crisis. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the HIE has played a key role in delivering

Exploring 3 Levels of Health Information Exchange, Data Access

October 12, 2020

By Christopher Jason

October 12, 2020 – Adequate and seamless health information exchange is an evergreen problem in healthcare, the adverse consequences of which are well-documented.

Poor data access can lead to patient safety issues, delays in care access, and tack on additional roadblocks to already cumbersome provider workflows.

But according to The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) —and nearly everyone else in healthcare—electronic health information exchange (HIE) allows providers and patients to appropriately access and securely share a patient’s vital medical information electronically—improving the speed, quality, safety, and cost of patient care.

HIEs are looking at different ways to boost interoperability between more health organizations. To achieve these goals, health IT developers are broadening the digital footprint at state, regional, and national levels.

Developing a Statewide HIE

It took Connecticut numerous tries to establish its HIE, Robert H. Aseltine, PhD, chair of the advisory

Montana health information exchange to launch later in year

| Health Facts

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Montana Gov. Steve Bullock and a healthcare nonprofit announced a statewide health information exchange system that will launch later in the year.

Bullock designated Big Sky Care Connect for the project in 2019. The partnership will allow health care providers to share and have easy access to patient data. Montana is just one of two states in the country that does not currently have a health information exchange system, the Billings Gazette reported.

“By sharing data, providers will be able to ensure that they’re informed about their patients’ status as they seek different services to promote patient safety and outcomes,” Bullock said Thursday.

Big Sky Care Connect says its services can help decrease medication errors, reduce readmission rates and diminish the cost of health care.

Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton said being able to access relevant information without delay will substantially increase medical response efficiency.
