The COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus pandemic, has caused many Americans across the country to adapt to a new reality following the devastating economic fallout. According to the CDC, 40% of Americans have reported they were struggling with mental health issues since June, with 31% reporting symptoms of anxiety and depression. Young adults and teenagers have also been severely impacted, with many unsure about the future of their academic pursuits with school closures due to social distancing restrictions and a pivot to online learning.

To help with the transition, programs like Peer Health Exchange are working with young adults to help them learn to cope with their mental health issues. Angela Glymph, Ph.D., vice president of Programs and Strategic Learning of Peer Health Exchange, discusses why organizations like hers are so important especially during this time.

“I’ve been working with the organization [since] 2014,” says Glymph in an interview with

‘I’m a Black Doctor. I Feel the Weight of Representing My Community’

A distinct memory I have from my childhood in Sacramento, California is overhearing my dad taking calls from worried parents. He has been practicing as a general pediatrician for 25 years and answers every call with patience and compassion that I deeply admire.

As I grew older, my father started sharing some of his patients’ stories with me and I began to realize that I also wanted to work in medicine, but that I wanted to focus my career on working with teenagers.

However, as a Black girl growing up wanting to be a doctor, I became aware that I was the personification of my parents’ and communities’ dreams. At church or community events, I’d often hear, “your parents must be so proud.” And, of

Pauses of coronavirus antibody and vaccine trials are routine, doctor says

Two setbacks have been reported in 24 hours in the fight against the coronavirus. On Tuesday, drugmaker Eli Lilly halted human testing of a COVID-19 treatment citing a potential safety concern. A person familiar with the trial told CBS News the pause will last approximately two weeks.

The treatment, which uses COVID-19 antibodies, is similar to a therapeutic given to President Donald Trump that he touted as a cure. “It was like unbelievable,” Mr. Trump said. “I felt good immediately.”

This comes as Johnson & Johnson said its vaccine trial, the largest to date, is also stopping temporarily while it investigates if an unexplained illness was caused by its vaccine.

CBS News medical contributor Dr. David Agus said these pauses are routine and reassuring.

“So this is not unusual,” Agus said. “I hope that Americans see news like this and have comfort that we are investigating every single

The remarks from Jackson, who has not evaluated Biden, came during a phone call organized by President Trump’s campaign and are part of a sustained effort by Trump’s allies to highlight Biden’s gaffes on the campaign trail, arguing they make him mentally incapable of serving as commander in chief.

Jackson said Tuesday that he was speaking as a “concerned citizen” and not as a Republican congressional candidate.

“As a citizen of this country, I watch Joe Biden on the campaign trail and I am concerned that he does not – am convinced that he does not have the mental capacity, the cognitive ability to serve as our

President Donald Trump tested negative for COVID-19 at some point in the “recent” past, his personal doctor said Monday, though he didn’t specify what that meant.

Dr. Sean Conley, the White House doctor who has continued to offer misleading or incomplete information about Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis, offered the latest confusing update in a memo released shortly before the president was set to hold an evening campaign rally in Florida.

“In response to your inquiry regarding the president’s most recent COVID-19 tests, I can share with you that he has tested NEGATIVE, on consecutive days,” Conley wrote in the memo.

A White House spokesman did not return a request for clarity.

Conley wrote in the memo that Trump’s negative results came back using the so-called “Abbott BinaxNOW antigen card” — a rapid test known to not be as accurate as more sensitive swab tests.

However, Conley said the team of White

The Latest: Doctor: Trump tests negative on consecutive days

| Health Current Events

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s White House doctor says Trump has tested negative for COVID-19 on consecutive days using a newer rapid test from Abbott laboratories.

The assessment from Navy Cmdr. Sean Conley comes as Trump is traveling to Sanford, Florida, to headline his first campaign rally Monday since becoming infected with the coronavirus. Conley had said in a written memo released over the weekend that Trump is no longer at risk of spreading the virus to others.

Conley says in a fresh update released Monday that Trump tested negative for COVID-19 on consecutive days using a newer 15-minute test. He did not say when Trump was tested.

Trump announced Oct. 2 that he had tested positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus. He was admitted to Walter Reed military hospital that night and released on Oct. 5.

Over the weekend, Trump addressed scores of supporters who crowded onto

Personalized Health Care Puts You And Your Doctor In Charge

October 12, 2020

| Better Health

So much of the conversation over the first presidential debate focused on style that a serious point of substance got lost. Namely, what can we do to help all Americans get better health care at a much lower price?

Americans care about the answer. They want lower costs, more choices and access to high-quality care. They want to ensure that everyone, including people with pre-existing conditions, get the care they need when they need it.

What don’t they want? Mandates laid down by government bureaucrats or insurance companies to get in the way of health care decisions that belong to patients and doctors.

They want to be able to keep their health coverage and doctors when they change or lose their job.

They want transparency. Health care and drug prices should be made public so you know what you’ll pay before you buy it—effectively eliminating surprise medical bills.

The conservative

Trump No Longer a COVID-19 ‘Transmission Risk,’ White House Doctor Says

October 11, 2020

President Trump is no longer at risk of transmitting the coronavirus, his doctor said Saturday evening, nine days after the president first tested positive for the virus.

“This evening I am happy to report that in addition to the President meeting the CDC criteria for the safe discontinuation of isolation, this morning’s COVID PCR sample demonstrates, by currently recognized standards, he is no longer considered a transmission risk to others,” White House physician Dr. Sean Conley said in a memo.

“Now at day 10 from symptom onset, fever-free for well over 24 hours and all symptoms improved, the assortment of advanced diagnostic tests obtained reveal there is no longer evidence of actively replicating virus,” Conley added.

Conley’s announcement came hours after Trump held his first public event since his October 1 diagnosis, which had been followed by a three-day stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Ahead of the
