The city alerted the public Monday on its Facebook account that a single case of COVID had been detected at the Granite Street store. City Health Commissioner Ruth Jones said in a telephone interview Tuesday that a second of the store’s four employees has now tested positive. Both employees worked between Oct. 2 and Oct. 11.

Jones said customers who were in the store for brief periods — less than 15 minutes — are not likely to have health concerns related to exposure to the employees. (If they feel symptomatic they should be tested, she stressed.)

West Fresno community center closed over toxic chemicals

October 13, 2020

| Health Center

The Maxie Parks Community Center in southwest Fresno has been evacuated and barred to the public since Sept. 3, after testing found contamination in and around the building, likely from toxic chemicals used by Imperial Cleaners, a former dry cleaning business.

City officials say the health risk is low. But, the West Fresno Family Resource Center, which operates from the Maxie Parks Community Center, built in the 2000s, will not move back into the building on California Avenue until the pollution has been removed.

“We’re keeping people off the facility until we take the next step that’s required by the water board,” Miguel Arias, president of the Fresno City Council, told The Fresno Bee. “Now we have to give them a work plan on how we’re going to mitigate and clean up the site . . . and the state board will tell us the level of mitigation that we

Dismay and calls for aid as some Czech businesses closed and pub times curtailed

PRAGUE, Oct 12 (Reuters) – Czech businesses, arts establishments and sports facilities called for state support on Monday, after new restrictions aimed at curbing one of the world’s sharpest spikes in COVID-19 cases were expected to cause further financial pain.

The government has ordered theatres, cinemas and sport and fitness centres to close. Restaurants and pubs, an important part of life in the world’s most beer-thirsty nation, must shut by 8 p.m.

The new measures came as a surprise to some, as the government had pledged not to bring back blanket restrictions.

“From one minute to the next we are out of business, instructors and coaches are out of work, clients are angry,” said Ondrej Kokta, a manager at the Euforie fitness club in Prague.

Some clients said they were confused by the logic of the restrictions coming into force.

“I am angry because there is no public data to

The Shawnee County health department has temporarily shut down Doug’s Service Center for allegedly violating “isolation and quarantine orders.”

Craig Barnes, division manager in Community Health Outreach and Planning at the Health Department, said after the store closed at 5:30 p.m. today, employees of the store will not be allowed to return for at least 48 hours and after the store is deep cleaned.

Businesses temporarily closed by the health department for violating COVID-19 protocols must also “submit a plan to the Health Officer addressing safety measures moving forward,” said an Oct. 7 press release announcing the closure.

Doug Rosencutter, owner of Doug’s Service Center, 601 SW Fairlawn Rd., said two employees tested positive for COVID-19, but those employees have not been back to work since they tested positive.

“I have done everything they have

The Dundee Township Park District said that no members of the public were in “close contact” with the staff member and that officials were notifying the public out of an abundance of caution. The name of the employee will not be released due to confidentiality laws, officials said. The other sections of the Randall Oaks Recreation Center will remain open, and group fitness classes will continue, because the employee was not in contact with those areas, officials said.

The district is working alongside the Kane County Health Department to make sure all protocols are followed.

Clear View Behavioral Health Center is closed after citing several regulatory violations on Monday, including a lack of preventive measures for COVID-19.

JOHNSTOWN, Colo. — The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) closed the Clear View Behavioral Health Center in Johnstown on Monday, citing several regulatory violations, including lack of preventive measures for COVID-19.

All patients were moved after the Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division discovered the latest violations on Sept. 22, according to a news release about the closure.

A complaint and revisit survey initiated by the division prior to the closure “cited multiple deficiencies, including nursing services and infection control,” the news release stated.

“We are closely monitoring all healthcare facilities, especially during the pandemic,” Division Director Randy Kuykendall said in the release. “Patients in facilities are at higher risk of COVID-19 infection due to the ongoing nature of close contact between patients and
