AURORA, IL — Students in East Aurora District 131 will be learning from home for the rest of the year after officials again delayed their return to school amid the coronavirus pandemic.

With a “prevailing high number” of coronavirus cases in the Aurora area, district officials are now hoping to implement a hybrid learning plan in January, Superintendent Jennifer Norrell said in a letter to parents.

Flu Shot Clinic To Open Wednesday In North Aurora

The positivity rate in District 131’s main ZIP code, 60505, has often been twice or triple the statewide positivity rate, and almost half of the city’s 5,920 coronavirus cases, as of Sunday, were recorded in the same ZIP code, Norrell said.

District officials will continue to watch coronavirus trends in the area and will “certainly explore an earlier return” if it looks possible, Norrell said.

| Community Health

ANN ARBOR, MI – School administrators have signed a joint letter with the Washtenaw County Health Department urging the broader community to continue preventing the spread of COVID-19 so children can get back to face-to-face learning.

The letter was signed by the leaders of 29 public, charter, private and independent schools across Washtenaw County.

“As we return to face-to-face instruction, we want to be sure we are prioritizing the health and safety of our students, families, and staff,” Washtenaw Intermediate School District Interim Superintendent Naomi Norman said in a news release. “With over 50,000 students and 15,000 staff across our schools, health and safety is of utmost importance.

“When schools need to unexpectedly transition from open to closed to open again due to positive COVID-19 cases, it puts a burden on students, families, staff and our broader community. We are taking safety very seriously by providing remote options and enacting

| Health And Fitness

On Wednesday 7 October, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced in parliament that action was needed now in order to prevent a return to the peak level of Covid-19 infections that Scotland experienced in the spring.

Ms Sturgeon outlined a number of rules for the country, with hospitality venues instructed to close at 6pm.

However, the central belt of Scotland was issued with even stricter measures due to “higher levels of infection” and all licensed pubs and restaurants in five health boards must close for 16 days.

Tidelands’ virtual fitness classes offer members at-home workout option | Myrtle Beach Area News

PAWLEYS ISLAND — When Tidelands Health surveyed its fitness members, they learned quickly several of their members didn’t want to come back due to COVID-19 concerns.

“We wanted to be able to reach them,” said Kim Vanlandingham, manager of Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness.

HealthPoint has in-person classes in Pawleys Island, which is where Tidelands does its streaming.

“There’s a lot of risk emotionally and physically associated with just being sedentary. So we wanted to make sure everybody was staying with their exercise program,” Vanlandingham continued.

That’s when Tidelands Health expedited pre-COVID plans to stream fitness classes online.

In September, it launched virtual membership for classes such as Zumba, pilates and yoga through a live-streamed format. For $15 per month, members can get their fitness classes in, from the comfort of their own home.

“In general, our facility has a strong social connection with our members,” Vanlandingham said.

Starting today, SoulCycle riders in all 50 states can bring the sweaty, high-energy, in-studio experience into their home with the national launch of SoulCycle’s at-home bike. Initially released to a small set of markets in March, this national launch coincides with the co-launch of Variis mobile app. SoulCycle’s live and on-demand classes stream to the at-home bike’s screen via Variis, Equinox Media’s digital fitness media platform. In addition to powering the digital SoulCycle experience, the standalone Variis mobile app also launches today, powering digital access to a variety of Equinox’ other notable digital fitness and mindfulness modalities.

Not surprisingly given the current climate, demand for SoulCycle’s at-home bike skyrocketed after safer-at-home orders were issued earlier this spring, necessitating a change in rollout plans for the greater launch. According to Equinox Media and Variis
