COVID-19 treatment: Dealing with denial of cashless settlement and huge deductions in health insurance claims

In the past few months, we’ve heard several stories of people with health insurance policies facing claim rejections, not getting cashless treatments, or having to pay hospital bills out of pocket for COVID-19 hospitalizations. There could be many reasons that insurers give for rejecting claims. Some situations are avoidable. You must ensure that a COVID diagnosis or treatment does not burn a hole into your hard-earned savings.

This article discusses some such key issues, along with actions you could take to avoid or reduce the financial burden of an already taxing health situation.

Claims declined for mild symptom cases: Health Insurance policies cover hospitalization treatments that are considered ‘necessary’ – where there is active treatment carried out in a hospital, under any local or international medical protocol. The claim could be declined

Vaccine development process is safe, claims of the contrary are baseless

October 13, 2020

| Health Article

All of our lives have been drastically impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — and we know all of us are eager to return to the way things were before the pandemic began. However, that simply won’t be possible without a safe, effective vaccine. Fortunately, due to the strength of American innovation and unprecedented public-private partnerships, a COVID-19 vaccine is on the horizon. We, as the top Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and a physician on the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, have been closely following our nation’s progress — and we are confident that we will have a safe, effective vaccine soon.

On July 21, 2020, the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee held a hearing on vaccine development. The subcommittee heard from AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Moderna, and Pfizer. All five companies are working on various vaccines

Fact-check: Biden claims Trump is ‘pushing to slash Medicare benefits’

“Donald Trump is lying about Medicare and Social Security. Trump is pushing to slash Medicare benefits.” – Voice-over in new Joe Biden campaign ad, released Oct. 9, 2020

– – –

We were a little surprised when we first saw this ad, as we were unaware of any Trump proposal or policy effort to cut Medicare benefits. There is no citation or explanation given for this claim in the ad, which further puzzled us. Normally, attack ads try to offer verisimilitude by citing news articles or reports.

The explanation from the Biden campaign was also surprising, So let’s explore this claim in detail. It’s an interesting and complex story.

(Note: The ad further makes a Social Security claim that we have previously fact-checked as false. We will keep this fact check focused on the Medicare portion of the ad.)

The Biden campaign explained that this line hinged on the fact

MANCHESTER—A British Cycling and Team Sky doctor accused of ordering sachets of testosterone has continued to deny that it was for an athlete and once again branded such claims “offensive”.

Dr Richard Freeman admits bringing the package of Testogel to the Velodrome in Manchester in May 2011 but claims it was for coach Shane Sutton who bullied him into obtaining it for his erectile dysfunction.

When Mr Sutton appeared at the tribunal, he denied any knowledge of the product being ordered, said he had no problem with erectile dysfunction and branded Dr Freeman a liar.

Riders’ Data

The case continued at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service yesterday where Dr Freeman claimed testosterone levels were not an important measurement in athlete’s performance.

But British Cycling and Team Sky have now produced a 111 page bundle of results from riders to assist the case against him.

THE FACTS: That’s far from certain, and Twitter later flagged his tweet with a fact-check warning.

Some medical experts have been skeptical that Trump could be declared free of the risk of transmitting the virus so early in the course of his illness. Nor

Trump claims he’s immune to COVID-19 and can’t spread it, but Twitter says not so fast

| Health Current Events

Washington — President Trump declared on Sunday he was ready to return to the campaign trail, despite unanswered questions about his health. The statement came on the eve of a Florida rally meant to kick off his campaign’s stretch run before Election Day.

Twitter later flagged a Trump claim that he’s now immune to COVID-19 and can’t spread it to other people.

Mr. Trump’s  impending return comes after the White House doctor said he was no longer at risk of transmitting the coronavirus — but didn’t say explicitly whether Mr. Trump had tested negative for it. The president insisted he was now “immune” from the virus, a claim that was impossible to prove and added to the unknowns about the president’s health.

“I’m immune,” Mr. Trump said in an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.” “The president is in very good shape to fight the battles.”
