Allegheny Co. Health Dept. Announces 74 New Coronavirus Cases, Bringing Countywide Total To 13,436

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 74 new Coronavirus cases Tuesday and no new deaths.

Of the newly reported cases, 57 are confirmed from 1,301 PCR tests and 17 are probable. Eight of those probable cases are from positive antigen tests.

The total number of cases countywide now stands at 13,436 since March 14.

New cases range in age from 14 years to 91 years with a median age of 35 years, the Health Department says. The dates of positive tests ranged from Oct. 7-12.

There have been 1,293 hospitalizations in Allegheny County since the outbreak began. Of all the hospitalized patients, 329 of them have needed care in the ICU, and 128 of them have required treatment with a ventilator.

The county-wide death toll stands at 397.

Paladina Health to Acquire Healthstat, Bringing Together Two of the Nation’s Leading Direct Primary Care Providers

Paladina Health currently operates 120 clinics concentrated in the Midwest and Western U.S. The Heathstat acquisition will add more than 230 clinics in 13 additional states, including in the Southeast where Paladina Health does not have a presence. After the acquisition is complete, Paladina Health will operate 350 clinics and remain the nation’s second-largest direct primary care provider.

Pa. Health Dept. Reports Over 1,000 New Coronavirus Cases, Bringing Statewide Total To 165,243

HARRISBURG (KDKA) — The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 1,036 new cases of Coronavirus and 17 additional deaths.

The statewide total number of cases has risen to 165,243 since Monday’s report, according to the state’s data.

The Health Department says all 67 counties in Pennsylvania have had cases of COVID-19. Current patients are either in isolation at home or being treated at the hospital.

The statewide death toll has risen to 8,244.

There are 1,951,992 patients across the state who have tested negative to date.

The state Health Department numbers show there are 23,380 resident cases of COVID-19 in nursing and personal care homes across Pennsylvania. Among employees, there are 5,196 diagnosed cases. That brings the entire total to 28,576 cases. Out of the total deaths across Pennsylvania, state officials say 5,497 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

“We were hippies,” says Barbara Davis. They were anti-establishment, bend the rules, roll up your sleeves and get things done without infringing on anyone else’s rights kind of people.

Picture a medical clinic with a handful of long-haired doctors, nurses and a social worker in a church basement. Mattresses on the floor served as the waiting room chairs; sheets hanging from the ceiling delineated the different exam rooms. A card table served as the front desk.

The staff members put in their own money to buy the supplies or rounded up free samples to start what was then called the People’s Free Clinic in 1970.

They opened up the clinic one night a week for a handful of hours. That first night, the accounts differ, but Davis thinks they had about 27 people come through the basement clinic they set up at Congregational Church off 23rd Street near the University

‘SNL’ Working With State Health Department Ahead of Bringing Back Live Studio Audience

“Saturday Night Live” is back in the studio for the first time in months—becoming the first major network show to have a live audience since the pandemic began. And that’s led to a serious warning from the Health Department.

“Offering tickets to the general public without the appropriate casting and screening process is not allowed. We have communicated that to SNL and expect them to follow the rules,” the New York State Health Department said in a statement.

A rep for the show said they are working with the Health Department to make sure all guidelines are followed. Audience members can request up to nine tickets, but can only bring people from their own “social bubble.”

Allegheny Co. Health Dept. Reports 106 New Coronavirus Cases, Bringing Countywide Total To 12,454

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 106 new Coronavirus Thursday and no additional deaths.

Of the newly reported cases, 99 are confirmed and seven are probable. Of the probable cases, county health officials say all are from positive antigen tests.

“New cases range in age from 11 to 101 years with a median age of 44 years,” according to the Health Department. “The date of positive tests ranged from Sept. 26 through Sept. 30.”

The total number of cases countywide now stands at 12,454 since March.

There have been 1,217 hospitalizations in Allegheny County since the outbreak began. Of all the hospitalized patients, 316 of them have needed care in the ICU, and 123 of them have required treatment with a ventilator.

The county-wide death toll stands at 382.
