Kelly Rowland announced her second pregnancy with a stunning magazine cover.
Kelly Rowland has another baby on the way!
The singer used the latest cover of Women’s Health magazine to announce that she’s pregnant with her second child. “SURPRISE!!” the Destiny’s Child alum captioned the Instagram post revealing her baby bump.
This marks the second child for Rowland and husband Tim Weatherspoon, who welcomed their son, Titan Weatherspoon, in 2014. The couple married earlier that year in a private ceremony. “We had been talking about it loosely, and then COVID happened, and we were just like, ‘Let’s see what happens,'” Rowland told Women’s Health of their plans to have another baby.
The star admitted that she had reservations about announcing her pregnancy right away, as the country continues to endure the coronavirus pandemic, an economic crisis, and a racial reckoning. “But you still want to remind people that life is important,” she added to the magazine.
“And being able to have a child … I’m knocking at 40’s door in February,” continued Rowland, who is 39. “Taking care of myself means a lot to me.”
She also acknowledged that some fans might be impatient for her to announce other news. “I was thinking, Oh my god, my fans are gonna be so disappointed. … They wanted an album first, but they got a baby!” Rowland said. “And I was like, ‘I have to figure this out so they get both.'”
Rowland released her last album, Talk a Good Game, in 2013. This year, however, she teased that new music was on the way after she dropped her single “Coffee” with an accompanying music video in April. She told The Cut that her next album “needs to be” the best one yet.
