A 2014 U.S. BUREAU OF LABOR AND STATISTICS GRAPHIC SHOWS HISPANICS MAKE UP 11% OF THE EDUCATION AND HEALTH SERVICE INDUSTRY. NAHN LOOKS TO INCREASE THAT DIVERSITY. DECREASES HEALTH CARE DISPARITIES, INCREASES QUALITY CARE, PATIENT SATISFACTION, SOCIAL JUSTICE. >> THEY ALSO WORK TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF THE LATINO COMMUNITY NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCE. >> I GREW UP BEING UNDOCUMENTED, SO THE FEAR OF NOT HAVING INSURANCE OR WHAT HAPPENS IF I GO TO THE HOSPITAL, I HAVE HAD FAMILY MEMBE ASKED ME TO CHECK THEM OUT BECAUSE THEY ARE SCARED OF BEING THERE THEMSELVES. >> WHETHER IT’S SPEAKING SPANISH OR JUST CULTURAL COMPETENCY. THEY SAY SUPPORTING DIVERSITY IN HEALTHCARE IS VITAL >> WE NEED PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE US TO SUPPORT US, CHEER US ON, TO KNOW THAT IT IS ATTAINABLE. >> CHERNEY AMHARA, WISN 12
