Fall Fitness Returns To Republic Square In Austin

AUSTIN, TX — Fall Fitness is returning to Republic Square with a series featuring socially distanced, in-person classes starting next week.

Operated and managed by the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation, Republic Square will be the venue for the fitness classes starting next Tuesday (Oct. 13). Classes will be led by Barre3, Corazon Latino Dance and Wanderlust Yoga, officials said in an advisory.

New health and safety guidelines will be in place for each class taking place every Tuesday and Thursday throughout October. Austin Foundation for Architecture and AIA Austin will repaint P A R K S P A C E social distancing pods so guests can safely enjoy outdoor fitness 8 feet apart.

Classes are free. Space is limited and guests are required to register online in advance each week. Spots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Participating fitness mavens will be surrounded by spruced-up surroundings. Officials at the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation on Wednesday announced that Republic Square, which the Foundation maintains, operates and programs, was chosen by the Clarity Parks Project and Project for Public Spaces as one of three public spaces in cities impacted by natural disaster to receive a $47,000 grant from the makers of Claritin.
