President Trump in his return to the campaign trail in Florida on Monday evening boasted he has recovered from COVID-19 and is impervious to the disease that has killed more than 210,000 Americans.

The president, who tested positive on Oct. 1, also indicated he is unconcerned about being contagious and told the audience gathered at Orlando Sanford International Airport that he would be happy to engage in some close contact.

“One thing with me, the nice part, I went through it, now they say I’m immune. … I feel so powerful,” Trump said. “I’ll walk in there, I’ll kiss everyone in that audience. I’ll kiss the guys, and the beautiful women, and the — everybody. I’ll just give you a big fat kiss.”

New U.S. Infections Lowest in a Week

The U.S. reported the smallest increase in new coronavirus infections in a week, while hospitals in some parts of the country are seeing rising numbers of Covid-19 patients.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the U.S. topped 7.8 million, as the nation reported more than 41,000 new cases for Monday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The death toll surpassed 215,000.

U.S. hospitalizations, meanwhile, are at the highest level since Sept. 2, according to data from the Covid Tracking Project. As of Monday, there were 35,056 patients hospitalized across the country, more than 16% higher than the level a week earlier. While hospitalizations are rising, they are still lower than July’s daily highs of more than 59,000.

Claims Testosterone for Athlete ‘Offensive’

MANCHESTER—A British Cycling and Team Sky doctor accused of ordering sachets of testosterone has continued to deny that it was for an athlete and once again branded such claims “offensive”.

Dr Richard Freeman admits bringing the package of Testogel to the Velodrome in Manchester in May 2011 but claims it was for coach Shane Sutton who bullied him into obtaining it for his erectile dysfunction.

When Mr Sutton appeared at the tribunal, he denied any knowledge of the product being ordered, said he had no problem with erectile dysfunction and branded Dr Freeman a liar.

The case continued at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service yesterday where Dr Freeman claimed testosterone levels were not an important measurement in athlete’s performance.

But British Cycling and Team Sky have now produced a 111 page bundle of results from riders to assist the case against him.

Joy MacKinnon opened up a post on her Facebook page and started to type.

The words didn’t come easily. She didn’t want the message to be too wordy or a sob story or “woe is me” at all.

Mostly, she just kept thinking: “Oh my gosh, I really have to say this now.”

In March, the coronavirus pandemic hit California and soon public health officials ordered closures and people to stay safe at home. The 45-year-old MacKinnon Dance Academy canceled its classes and had to close its doors, like thousands of other local businesses.

More than three million swabs have been taken in a matter of days in Qingdao, the Chinese port city where a minor coronavirus outbreak elicited a sweeping health response.

Queues for testing stretched deep into Monday night across the eastern city, which detected six virus cases the day before but swiftly swung into action to head off a wider outbreak.

In scenes which contrast with the fumbled efforts of other nations to establish effective testing regimes, Qingdao health workers in protective gear set up tents to take samples across neighbourhoods, where parents brought toddlers for testing.

Residents said on social media that community representatives informed them of their nearest testing stations, with local districts helping to organise sample collection for mass testing.

“As of 8 am… our city has taken 3.08 million samples for nucleic testing, with 1.11 million results received,” Qingdao’s health commission said in a statement Tuesday.

India sees its fewest new cases since mid-August

NEW DELHI — India has registered 55,342 new coronavirus cases, its lowest single-day tally since mid-August.

The Health Ministry raised India’s confirmed total to more than 7.17 million cases on Tuesday but said the country was showing a trend of declining daily cases over the last five weeks.

The ministry also reported 706 deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the toll to 109,856.

According to data shared by the Health Ministry, the average number of daily cases from Sept. 9-15 was 92,830. The average has steadily declined since then, falling to under 73,000 per day over the last week.

Meanwhile, India’s testing rate has remained constant, with almost 1.1. million tests being carried out every day.

India, a country of nearly 1.4 billion people, is second in the world in total cases, behind only the U.S., which has confirmed over 7.8 million infections.

Johnson & Johnson pauses COVID-19 vaccine trial due to unexplained illness

The drug and pharmaceutical company failed to provide additional information about the trial participant’s illness.

Johnson & Johnson has halted its advanced clinical trials for a coronavirus vaccine due to an “unexplained illness” of a volunteer participating in medical tests, CNN reports.

“Following our guidelines, the participant’s illness is being reviewed and evaluated by the ENSEMBLE independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) as well as our internal clinical and safety physicians,” the drug and pharmaceutical company said in a statement of the study, which is named ENSEMBLE.

“Adverse events — illnesses, accidents, etc. — even those that are serious, are an expected part of any clinical study, especially large studies.”

It’s not clear what the unexplained illness is, however, as CNN points out, such clinical trials could cause side effects for participants. Trials are commonly stopped when side effects occur. Doctors are then able to evaluate the illness and

China city says it’s tested 3 million for virus

BEIJING (AP) — Authorities in the eastern Chinese port city of Qingdao said Tuesday that they have completed coronavirus tests on more than 3 million people following the country’s first reported local outbreak of the virus in nearly two months.

The city’s health department said no new positive cases had been found among the more than 1.1 million test results returned thus far. The city said it had a total of 12 cases, six with symptoms and six without, since the new outbreak was first spotted over the weekend at a hospital.

The National Health Commission, however, said Tuesday that at least six new cases of the virus were found in Qingdao in the past 24 hours.
