Health First’s Center for Child Development, which provides free childcare and education programs to Health First employees, reopened Thursday after closing temporarily when children and other people connected to the center tested positive for COVID-19.

Health First said four children tested positive for the virus since the facility closed Sept. 17. Programs at the center serve a total of 250 children ranging in age from infants to 12 years old.

An initial Sept. 16 letter to parents stated that at the time of the facilities’ closure, no children were known to have tested positive but it encouraged parents to self-monitor themselves and children and contact a doctor if any symptoms appeared. Health First initially hoped to reopen the center on Sept. 22, according to the letter.
