Contract negotiations are beginning with Carla Walter to become the interim chancellor of the Peralta Community College District, district officials announced Friday.
Walter has been acting chancellor since July 18 following the departure of Regina Stanback Stroud.
At a special board meeting Wednesday is when the board made the decision to begin negotiations.
“Dr. Carla Walter’s background in both education and finance is critical to the District’s path forward in improving our fiscal health,” said Board of Trustees President Julina Bonilla.
“Serving as Acting Chancellor, the appointment of Dr. Walter as Interim Chancellor allows the District to maintain a seamless transition in CEO leadership as the Board initiates the permanent Chancellor search,” she said.
Over a year ago, an audit was done that showed the district had a structural deficit, district spokesman Mark Johnson said. District leadership was given 75 things
